The primary responsibility of the Director of Product is to support the vision, mission, and business goals of the PGA of America by shaping the direction of existing and new products, and improving user experience, with a deep focus on customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
Own digital and mobile products and user experience from conception to launch.
Act as a visionary leader of digital products with a track record of success.
Establish and maintain a structured approach to user research and product development.
Lead the development and execution of product plans, schedules, and delivery milestones through agile and technical expertise, collaborative leadership, and visionary skills.
Work closely with other functions across the company as well as with the Sections and Membership to evangelize the product strategy and roadmap.
Provide ownership and accountability for products in various stages of the product development pipeline.
Continuously drive improvements in products (in development or already released) to ensure that the solutions best support the needs of customers and deliver on the value proposition.
Maintain product and market knowledge analyses and keep abreast of market trends.
Maintain and develop a pipeline of potential new products over time, ensuring continual adaptation of our product development strategy.
Translate business goals into functional digital strategies and tactical digital product ideas.
Ensure each team member follows a defined process from conceptualization, to business case development, requirements, development and deployment.
Work closely with Technology team to ensure cost effective and high quality product development.
Build strong relationships across the leadership team; promote transparency and align cross functional resources to product delivery timelines.
Foster a highly collaborative environment that inspires the product development teams to develop innovative digital strategies and products.
Lead the product management effort and go-to-market strategy across all digital engagement platforms (i.e. mobile, desktop, and email).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Computer Science or related field. Master’s in Computer Science or related field preferred.
Seven years of Product Management experience required.
Five years team management experience required with a successful track record of hiring, coaching, and developing top talent. Team management experience should include managing Product Managers as well as UX/UI Engineers.
Deep understanding of UX design principles and experience working with customers and stakeholders and part of the design process is required.
Exceptional communication, problem solving skills, project management skills, and meticulous attention to detail are essential to the success of this role.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Job Knowledge/Technology: Must have knowledge of design, development, testing and deployment of web and mobile applications. Excellent agile and project management skills. A track record of action, and the ability to consistently identify and translate user needs and customer feedback into solutions. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
