Software Engineer - Barrett-Jackson Auction Company (Scottsdale, AZ)

Position Purpose:

Develops information systems by working with various departments and operations; focuses on designing, developing, and installing software solutions; works with other development staff on building consistent high quality code; performs proper testing of developed code; works with the IT Hardware team to ensure releases work within the confines of the current environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.

  • Works with other development staff and business owners to understand the application functionalities and the business rules of existing code.

  • Utilizes business requirements and documentation to build accurate systems that function as expected.

  • Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.

  • Improves operations by working with various departments and the Director of Software on business solutions, application improvements and special projects.

  • Stays current with the latest trends in robust web applications, middleware, and backend coding standards, providing recommendations when appropriate.

  • Protects the business by keeping information confidential.

  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.

  • Documents code to ensure readability and understanding across other developers.

  • Contribute to the Application Architecture, with a focus on scalability, maintainability, security, and performance.

  • Help automate/streamline manual tasks such as, but not limited to; email blast template creation, marketing landing page requests, content management opportunities.

    Qualifications:

    Experience and/or Education:

  • 10+ years of software development experiencing, preferably in robust enterprise level web applications and/or SAAS model environments.
  • 8+ years’ experience using C#, ASP.net, SQL, web services and other MS based development tools.
  • Experience in N-Tier development, entity framework, MVC, MVVM, or other structured patterns and practices.
  • 6+ years’ experience in HTML, Javascript, and CSS experience desired.
  • Advocate of unit testing, automation and test-driven development.
  • Strong knowledge of quality processes and a track record of delivering high quality code.
  • Experience with mobile enable web applications desired (using bootstrap methods).
  • Angular JS experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Understanding of software packages, including Adobe Photoshop CS3, Acrobat, Flash, MS Office, etc.
  • Experience in Cordova and native mobile development is a plus (currently for Android devices).
  • Familiar with the latest trends in web security mechanisms is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or Computer Science/ Software Engineering degree or related work experiences is a strong plus.

Technical Services: Network Administration/Services
Director of IT - Barrett-Jackson Auction Company (Scottsdale, AZ)

Position Purpose:

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company.  We expect the Director to be able to step in for any of the IT employees at any time. This means having recent and active technical skills, and learning every aspect of the technical infrastructure from pulling wire, programming applications, to doing system administration.
 

The Director works with Executive Management to execute the technology to fulfill the business needs. Directing the IT staff to execute the system architecture the CIO designed to meet the growing demands of the company’s forward progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Managing IT projects (project management task entry and maintenance, trouble ticket system, and bug tracking)
    2. Designing proprietary software (Mainly in C# and ASP.NET. Also in Linux shell, Perl, Ruby, Python and/or PHP)
    3. Designing, testing, and implementing fully redundant server systems in both Windows (primary 80%) and Linux OSs (20%)
    4. Learning every job in IT to step in as needed
    5. Managing IT employees
    6. Managing the IT budget
    7. Development of code as needed
    8. Working with the IT and management teams translating and articulating administrative and technical goals from the business side into technical initiatives
    9. Coordinating interdepartmental communication
    10. Maintaining and enforcing formal IT polices and procedures
    11. Ensuring contract administration, extensions, and enhancements

     

Experience and/or Education:

Minimum of 12 - 15 years of total experience in the Information Technology field, preference to candidates with 20+ years.
The following can overlap:
   • At least 5 years of software design/architecture experience.
   • At least 7 years of professional software development experience.
   • At least 5 years of SQL database development and administration experience.
   • At least 5 years of Microsoft system administration experience.
   • At least 3 years of network administration experience.
   • At least 2 years of Linux system administration experience.
   • At least 2 years of project management experience.
• Project management certification (Must be current).
• Proficient decision-making and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to give and receive feedback at all levels of the organization. Strong coaching, empathizing, and empowerment abilities.
• Able to take initiative and responsibility for projects, promote teamwork and collaboration between IT and other departments.
• Architect/Designing complex software systems
• Expert working knowledge of C# and .NET framework.
• Experience programming using Object Oriented techniques.
• Experience using UI development technologies including JavaScript, CSS.
• Familiarity with other dynamic languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, etc a plus.
• Experience working on a high volume environment preferred.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT (full-time) - Lax Sports Network (Woburn, MA)

Lax Sports Network, the premiere 24/7 digital sports network devoted to the sport of lacrosse, is hiring a full-time Production Assistant.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Editing highlights/interviews/and sound bites
  • Cataloging and archiving media
  • Publishing clips and updating/maintaining VOD & CMS portal
  • Participating in pre-show and post-show production meetings
  • Providing general research and production support for producers and talent
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong experience with AVID Media Composer or similar editing software
  • Availability to work long hours, including weekend nights and some holidays
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines
