Partnership Internship - 2017 World Rowing Championships (Sarasota, FL)

From September 23 – October 1, 2017, the World Rowing Championships, an international Rowing Regatta organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation), will be held at Nathan Benderson Park, in Sarasota Florida.  This weeklong event is held at the end of the northern hemisphere summer and in non-Olympic years – it is the highlight of the international rowing calendar.  Rowing takes place in 21 different boat classes for both Men and Women, apart from during Olympic years when only non-Olympic boat classes’ race.  In the forty-eights years of the events existence, the United States has hosted only one world championship in 1994 at Indianapolis, IN. Twenty-three years later, Sarasota-Bradenton will represent the United States as the host of the 2017 World Rowing Championship.  The goal is to attract athletes, family, friends, fans from around the world, and locally in the US, to attend this world-class event, and grow the following of rowing in the US.

Position will run from Monday, June 5, 2017 – Friday, August 18, 2017. 

As a Partnership intern, you will:


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research and development for partner prospects
  • Assist with partner deck creation
  • Become a knowledgeable ambassador of the 2017 World Rowing Championships
  • Assist full-time staff with on-site event management/operations

Other duties include:

  • Assisting full-time staff with on-site event management/operations
  • Performing other duties as assigned


  • Ability to work independently and be a team player
  • Ability to think outside of the box and be solution-driven
  • Be flexible and willing to take on a variety of projects and tasks
  • Ability to work events that take place on nights and weekends

Due to the nature of the organization, our projects and events are rarely the same; the internship experience depends entirely on the current happenings of the planning of the 2017 World Rowing Championships.

Work Hours-The summer internship program requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. The fall, winter, and spring sessions requires 20 hours per week. If the student is receiving college credit for the internship, the college or university will determine work hours for the student, up to 40 hours per week. The WRCH Staff is flexible in terms of exact work hours, however requires that a loose schedule be created in advance.

Compensation-This is not a paid internship. However, the 2017 World Rowing Championship will offer a stipend of $200 monthly to offset any day-to-day expenses incurred. Interns will not receive overtime pay.

Fall Internship - Hermes Sports & Events, Inc. (Cleveland, OH)

Hermes Sports & Events is seeking road racing interns for the fall semester.

Hermes was founded in 1981 and has built a reputation as Northeast Ohio's premier race and sport management company operating over 160 local and national running races. Travel opportunities may include working on the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series in any of the following cities: Scranton, Milwaukee, Findlay, Toledo, Knoxville, or Athens. 

Hermes also manages the Cleveland Corporate Challenge, a 14 sport competition among area businesses, and Hermes Sport & Social, which provides the highest quality sports leagues, tournaments and social events in the area.

September through December

This is a full time sports management internship 30+ hours per week.
Interns are expected to work during regular business hours as well as on the weekends (No exceptions)

In addition to earning your college credit, Hermes will pay you $300 per month
Internships are also available to gain valuable experience if no college credit is required

Job Description
The internship offers experience in event, race, and competition management
Onsite management
Educated in sports specific software programs including Chronotrack RFID tag timing (State of the art computerized system used in Marquis event wordwide)
Majority of events are outdoors in various weather conditions
You must be able to lift items 20 lbs and more
