 The Organization: The 500 Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating the spirit and legacy of the Indianapolis 500. To achieve our mission, we create fun and life-changing community events that create hype around the city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana in preparation for race weekend. After all, it’s the largest single-day sporting event in the world! Over half a million people are impacted by our events each May, and we love what we do.

The People: The 500 Festival staff is 18 deep and packed with talented, hard-working professionals who care about our city, our state, and what the Indy 500 means to its history and culture. An additional 11 interns join us for the spring semester, and another 7,000 volunteers help us make May a month-long celebration covered in Hoosier hospitality.

The Atmosphere: The office culture is a blend of professionalism and fun with varying personalities and skillsets. We take our jobs seriously, but at the end of the day, we’re the Festival! Whether you’re planning the nation’s premier half marathon, executing a flawless red carpet event, or producing one of the world’s largest parades, it’s hard work, but always fun and rewarding!

The Candidates: We want the best! That doesn’t always mean the smartest, most talented, or top of the class. We want the hardest working and most passionate students. If you’re looking for a career in events, have a willingness to learn, flexibility to put in some long hours in May, and you’d like to have a blast with a class of 10 other interns, then, join us this spring and help us produce the greatest month-long series of events on Earth.

The ideal candidate for this position must be proactive with various details of assigned events. Academic training in sport management, recreation, meeting planning, hospitality, tourism, special events or a related field is recommended. This candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills with a desire to be a team player with exceptional organizational and computer skills.

The candidate must also be flexible and willing to gain hands on experience during the months of April and May for all of the 500 Festival events. This would include the ability to go above and beyond while gaining insight into some of Indiana’s largest events. All interns will learn about event set up, tear down and production of all 500 Festival events and programs.

Learning Objectives:

Coordination of the Rookie Run, Education Program and KidsFit Program

Objective: Event planning, communication skills and working with a diverse group of individuals, problem solving

How to collaborate with event professionals and volunteers to develop and manage program and event timelines

Objective: Leadership, problem-solving, organization, communication, event management

Assist with the scheduling and coordination of schools, volunteers and educational station lessons for all Study Trip dates at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Mobile Study Trips

Objective: Event planning and management, problem-solving, communication, organization

Assist in creating and maintaining accurate event records

Objective: Database management, attention to detail and creativity

Assist with committee meetings and disseminate meeting minutes

Objective: Listening and small group discussion

Communicate relevant details to volunteer committees

Objective: written and verbal communication, leadership, customer relations 

Assist and/or lead event and program research projects

Objective: Research, industry knowledge   

Oversee 3 to 4 days in April and May as the Help Desk point person in the 500 Festival Lobby.

Objective: General organizational knowledge, teamwork, phone / in person communication skills  

Additional general day to day and event duties as assigned.

Compensation & Educational Requirements: 

  • The intern must obtain educational credit from an accredited college or university

After all, it’s the largest single-day sporting event in the world! Over half a million people are impacted by our events each May, and we love what we do.

An additional 11 interns join us for the spring semester, and another 7,000 volunteers help us make May a month-long celebration covered in Hoosier hospitality.

The Graphic Design Intern supports the 500 Festival’s Graphic Designer in day-to-day duties of design and production of marketing assets for the 500 Festival’s programs events. Potential projects include, but aren’t limited to, designing visual, shareable content for social media, designing print and digital advertisements, production of promotional posters. The Graphic Design Intern is a critical member of the 500 Festival’s marketing and communications team, which functions as the internal marketing and PR agency for the organization.

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • ? Possesses strong graphic design skills, composition and layout skills and experience in art production
  • ? Must have strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and InDesign. Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere is a plus
  • ? Has strong organizational skills, verbal communication skills, creativity, initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • ? Has strong attention to detail and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment

The Communications Intern will support the 500 Festival’s day-to-day communication initiatives by focusing on projects including, but not limited to: drafting press releases and pitches surrounding 500 Festival news, monitoring media outlets for media coverage, pitching and securing media coverage for 500 Festival programs and events, drafting scripting for relevant events, creating web and blog content and assisting with social media. The Communications Intern is a critical member of the 500 Festival’s marketing and communications team, which functions as the internal marketing and PR agency for the organization.

The ideal candidate for this position:
•    Possesses strong written / verbal communication, organizational skills, creativity, initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks for various 500 Festival programs and events.

The Organization: The 500 Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating the spirit and legacy of the Indianapolis 500. To achieve our mission, we create fun and life-changing community events that create hype around the city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana in preparation for race weekend. After all, it’s the largest single-day sporting event in the world! Over half a million people are impacted by our events each May, and we love what we do.

The People: The 500 Festival staff is 18 deep and packed with talented, hard-working professionals who care about our city, our state, and what the Indy 500 means to its history and culture. An additional 11 interns join us for the spring semester, and another 7,000 volunteers help us make May a month-long celebration covered in Hoosier hospitality.

The Atmosphere: The office culture is a blend of professionalism and fun with varying personalities and skillsets. We take our jobs seriously, but at the end of the day, we’re the Festival! Whether you’re planning the nation’s premier half marathon, executing a flawless red carpet event, or producing one of the world’s largest parades, it’s hard work, but always fun and rewarding!

The Candidates: We want the best! That doesn’t always mean the smartest, most talented, or top of the class. We want the hardest working and most passionate students. The ideal candidate for this position must be proactive with various details of assigned events. Academic training in sport management, recreation, meeting planning, hospitality, tourism, special events or a related field is recommended. This candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills with a desire to be a team player with exceptional organizational and computer skills.

The candidate must also be flexible and willing to gain hands on experience during the months of April and May for all of the 500 Festival events. This would include the ability to go above and beyond while gaining insight into some of Indiana’s largest events. All interns will learn about event set up, tear down and production of all 500 Festival events and programs.

Coordination of Mini-Marathon Post Race Party, Mini-Marathon Course Entertainment Program and Breakfast at the Brickyard

Organization of Running Club Village as part of the Mini-Marathon Post-Race Party

Organization of 70 entertainment groups that will perform throughout the 5K and Mini-Marathon courses

Logistics of The Spirit Squad competition for high school cheerleaders along the Mini-Marathon course
Objective: Recruitment, promotion and communication

How to collaborate with event professionals and volunteers to help develop and produce program/event timelines
Objective: Leadership, problem-solving, organization, communication, event management

Assist Program and Event Manager with event specific research projects. Objective: Event field research experience and industry knowledge

Assist Program and Event Manager in creating and maintaining accurate event records

Objective: Database management, attention to detail and creativity

Assist Program and Event Manager with committee meetings and disseminate meeting minutes

Objective: Listening and small group discussion

Position Summary 
Interns will increase their marketing skills by being actively involved with all aspects of marketing, promotion, and administrative work for the HJGT, the HCAT (Collegiate Tour) under the direct supervision and mentorship of 3-4 full time HJGT staff members. The internship will be based in Orlando, Florida and will require minimal travel. Our headquarters is located at Orange County National Golf Course in Winter Garden, FL. Normal marketing hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Interns will receive 2 days of free time per week. No other internship will better prepare you for a career in marketing with the hands on training that you will receive. POSITION SUMMARY:
The HJGT is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Operations Intern.  Under the direct supervision and mentorship of HJGT Tournament Directors and Staff Members, Interns will learn how to operate golf tournaments through their active involvement with all aspects of tournament operations, from course setup to course breakdown. No more than 4 interns to 1 full time tournament director.

The internship will provide direct hands on training and require extensive travel every weekend across the country, including: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Missouri, Illinois, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, California, Arizona, New Jersey, and North Carolina.  When interns are not traveling, they will be provided Business Operations training at the HJGT Headquarters through hands on learning and development provided by the Senior Leadership team.  There are 6 operations teams across of the country. 2 of them live in full time housing which is in FL or GA while the other 4 teams are travel teams and they live in hotels during the duration of their program.  Travel teams spend 1 full week in each city they visit.

CAREER ENRICHMENT:
There are countless benefits to participating in the HJGT internship. Interns will meet and interact with many people and get to know the future stars of the PGA and LPGA tours. Interns will be around influential and successful sponsors, parents, and spectators. Interns will also work closely with golf professionals, directors of golf and course superintendents. The networking opporintities are endless. 

In addition to the contacts made, the internship also serves as an opportunity to obtain full time employment with the HJGT or through its network. This internship is unlike many other programs because of the hands on experience you will receive. Interns will be given daily tasks that have a big impact on the organization. You will learn how to manage people, manage departments, and problem solve in a fast and fun environment.

The Rose Bowl Stadium Tours Intern will assist the Tour Manager and CRO, with all operations and marketing efforts in order to continue the Rose Bowl Stadium Tour Program’s steady growth.

ABOUT THE ROSE BOWL STADIUM:

A National Historic Landmark built in 1922 and known for the New Year's Tournament of Roses Football Game, the Rose Bowl Stadium has also earned its World-Class Reputation by hosting five NFL Super Bowl Games, the 1984 Olympic Soccer Matches, the 1994 Men's World Cup, the 1999 Women's World Cup, the 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 BCS National College Football Championship Games and was home to the inaugural 2015 College Football Playoff Semi-final game presented by Northwestern Mutual and numerous other memorable events over the past eighty plus years.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop Marketing Strategies
    • Create a marketing campaign surrounding the brand new 1922 Locker Room attraction  
    • Edit and aid in the creation of marketing materials (i.e. brochures, flyers and social media images)
    • Research tour operations of competing tour providers and generate a competitive analysis
    • Photograph tour groups to keep archives up to date
  • Facilitate stadium tour operations
    • Oversee Field Trip to the Field, the largest annual student tour program at the Rose Bowl Stadium
    • Aid tour manager with the supervision of tour guides
      • Schedule tour guides
      • Ensure tour guide payment through direct communication with Horizon Temporary Agency
      • Evaluate guide performance during tour presentation
  • Manage monthly public tours the last Friday of every month
  • Keep accurate accounting files tracking program growth and net revenue

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideal candidate will have an interest in the Los Angeles and International Tourism Industry
  • Interest in sports and music a plus
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher as well as social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
  • Ability to work weekends and must be able to contribute a minimum of 20 hours a week for at least 3 months

This internship is non-paid. Interns must receive college credit to be considered for this position. Interns are expected to be on time to work, be self-motivated, and able to handle multiple tasks with ease.

Primary Responsibilities:

Position Overview

Zero Gravity Basketball is seeking a motivated and dependable, sports-minded individual that is committed to being groomed into an operations expert who would make an excellent candidate to join a Division 1 basketball staff. This individual will go through a paid 6-month (Mid January – Mid June), career-growth oriented training program geared toward preparing an individual for becoming an asset to a sports organization. Operations co-ops will be responsible for inventory management and event management/operations while being mentored by the Director of Operations. Housing is available for prospective co-ops that need to relocate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inventory management at the Zero Gravity Main Office and Storage Facility which includes but is not limited to: maintaining, organizing, packing, and shipping tournament supplies
  • Perform pro-active assessments of inventory and placing orders with Director of operations as necessary to replenish supplies
  • Manages the physical set up of events with the goal of creating a true tournament atmosphere
  • Responsible for event clean-up & transportation of supplies back to the storage facility
  • Assists in weekend tournaments operations including tournament and site directing responsibilities
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by Managers

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

  • Recent graduate or current student of a 4-year college/university who has or is working towards a degree in Sport Management or a related field
  • Desire to work for a Division I Basketball Program
  • Drive, ambition and motivation for success with an outstanding work ethic

  • Editing and creating video content for our YouTube channel and social media

The Zero Gravity Assistant to the Regional Director Co-Op is a 6-Month (Mid January - Mid June) paid position based out of our corporate office in Beverly, MA and housing is available for prospective co-ops that need to relocate. The Assistant to the Regional Director Co-Op will work under the guidance of the Regional Director and Regional Coordinators to plan and implement events and tournaments on a weekly basis.

Duties Include:

  • Securing and confirming facilities for Zero Gravity events in your region
  • Assist in hiring part-time event staff on a weekly basis and training them in various capacities (Ticket Sales, Scorekeeping, Site Directing, etc.)
  • Registering and collecting payments from our vast customer base on a weekly basis
  • Confirming teams’ and programs’ tournament schedules on a weekly basis
  • Assisting with venue/facility setup and breakdown each week
  • Acting as a Site Director at Zero Gravity events and tournaments each weekend throughout our Spring Season
  • Drive regional revenue growth through building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Weekly professional training with the Regional Director and CEO
